Cannabis Bath Bombs – Do They Get You High? Leave a comment

CBD has been widely used in Australia for several years now, within the medical cannabis market. However, in the United States, where recreational cannabis is now legal in many states, CBD products are propping up all over the place.

With recreational cannabis now being made legal (in small doses) in the Australian Capital Territory, it may only be a matter of time before we start seeing CBD products on the market here.

Cannabis bath bombs are just one of the latest marijuana products to hit the market, but what exactly are they and can they actually give you a high?

What are cannabis bath bombs?

Well, like the name suggests, they are bath bombs which have CBD oil or THC added, to enhance your bath to the ultimate relaxation experience. As when you add other substances to your bath, such as Epsom salts, the pores in your skin will slowly open up with the hot water. This allows the cannabis bath bomb to gradually enter your body through your skin.

Beneath the layers of your skin is your circulating bloodstream. Once the CBD or THC in your cannabis bath bomb touches your skin, it will absorb some of in, through a process called ‘percutaneous absorption’. To increase this absorption, essential oils are added to the bath bomb, to help carry the cannabinoids into your bloodstream.

Do cannabis bombs get you high?

Whilst not the most effective way of getting high from cannabis, CBD or THC bath bombs can definitely give you a mild euphoric and deeply relaxing feeling. To really feel the full effects of cannabis bath bomb, you should soak in the tub for at least 30 minutes, or even better up to an hour. The warm water will help your pores open up and allow the CBD or THC to enter your system.

Whilst you will not get ‘high’ like you would when smoking a joint, a cannabis bath bomb may help you feel deeply relaxed, help to relieve anxiety, soothe muscles, and promote sleep. Whilst there is limited scientific research, some studies have suggested that CBD oil can help to moisturise and heal the skin.

It is worth noting that you should always be cautious if this is your first time using a ‘cannabath’. Be sure to know how it will affect you, and always start slowly with a bath bomb that has a low dose of cannabis. You may want to try a CBD only bath bomb first.

Can I get CBD or THC bath bombs in Australia?

Currently, no, you cannot buy these products in Australia. Cannabis is still illegal in most states and CBD is only legal for medical use.

If you are looking for a relaxing bath experience, you may want to try hemp bath bombs. Hemp is derived from the cannabis plant but contains extremely low levels of THC or CBD and is legal in Australia. It may not give you quite the same feeling as a cannabis bath, but hemp does have some other benefits. It contains high levels of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, and its composition makes it a great skin moisturiser.
